Winter Festival of Lights Set to Illuminate Niagara Falls

In just a few days, the Winter Festival of Lights will begin its 37th season of transforming Niagara Falls into a palette of brilliant, breathtaking colour.

Work began weeks ago to install the more than 3 million sparkling lights and animated displays that will illuminate Dufferin Islands, Niagara Winter Festival of Lights Parks and the surrounding touring districts.  Enjoy a winter tradition that is admired by Niagara residents and visitors from around the world who come to see the parklands lit in spectacular displays and witness brilliant winter fireworks. The Festival runs from November 16th, 2019 – January 12th, 2020 and begins with an opening ceremony featuring live entertainment, and the official lighting of the 8km route.

Niagara Falls fully transforms into a winter paradise, with no spot being untouched by the joyous dazzling lights, however there are a few key viewing areas:

Illuminated Deer at Dufferin IslandsDufferin Islands: This sheltered park is home to the Festival’s Canadian Wildlife display including three-dimensional Moose, Deer, Polar Bears, Bison and Geese displays that can reach up to 11’ tall!  Visitors can drive through the winter wonderland of nature-themed displays or park your car and explore on foot to get up close and personal with Canada’s wildlife.

Toronto Power Generating Station:   A building that dates back to 1906 is fully transformed into a spectacular sound and lights show. Dancing colours and patterns move in time with holiday music by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra broadcast on a local radio station. It is an incredible experience that surrounds you with blissful holiday spirit.

Queen Victoria Park: Home to the Festival’s stage, and the annual Free New Year’s Eve Party in the Park concert, Queen Victoria Park is the main illumination venue with displays that include larger-than-life guardian angels that are always keeping watch. The park is a dazzling winter wonderland, situated across the street from the thundering Niagara Falls and next to the bustling Clifton Hill.
